Our New President Needs to Watch This
By the way, why did President Obama sign this executive order, without coverage by the media, late Friday afternoon?

Obama: "Government is Our Only Hope"
"Only government can provide the short-term boost necessary to lift us from a recession this deep and severe. Only government can break the cycle that are (sic - is) crippling our economy. That's why we need to act boldly and act now, to reverse these cycles. That's why we need to restart the flow of credit and restore the rules of the road that will ensure a crisis like this never happens again." - Barack Obama, January 8th, 2009 George Mason University, Fairfax, Virginia
"In the end, the answer to our economic troubles rests less in my hands or in the hands of our legislators than it does with America's workers and the businesses that employ them. They are the ones whose efforts and ideas will determine our economic destiny just as they always have, for in the end it's businesses - large and small - that generate the jobs, provide the salaries, and serve as the foundation on which the American people's lives and dreams depend. All we can do, those of us here in Washington, as to help create a favorable climate in which workers can prosper, businesses can thrive, and our economy can grow." - Barack Obama, at a White House Press Conference with IBM and Honeywell CEO's, January 28th, 2009
Which is it, President Obama? Like every sorry politician, you talk out of both sides of your mouth! You speak socialism to the liberals and conservative language to business leaders, with your only intent being to promote your socialist, left-wing agenda. Only the left leaning mainstream media and a bunch of willing doofuses fall for this kind of rhetoric.
So what exactly is in this $825 billion so-called stimulus package? A government package that, according to the Wall Street Journal, will cost the taxpayers $646,214 per government job? Here's the short list:
- $1 billion for Amtrak, the federal railroad that hasn't turned a profit in 40 years
- $2 billion for child-care subsidies
- $50 million for that great engine of job creation, the National Endowment for the Arts
- $400 million for global-warming research
- $2.4 billion for carbon-capture demonstration projects
- $650 million to pay for digital TV conversion coupons
- $150 million for the Smithsonian museum
- $500 per illegal alien, $1,000 per illegal couple
"I will not allow Congress to attach any of those earmarks - lawmaker's pet projects - to the stimulus bill." - Barack Obama, according to NBC Nightly News
"We're not having earmarks in the recovery package, period." - Barack Obama, according to CNN's The Situation Room
Does Obama have any core values? Does he only say what he thinks people want to hear? Is Obama politically ambitious to the point where he looks at everything and everyone as simply a means to an end?
Readers, I believe everything happens for a reason. When we look to government for answers, we will crash and burn. We dense human beings only learn when we're going through hard times.
God help us.

Stupid Is As Stupid Does
If a business is struggling, they cut back on costs. That is sound economics and common sense. Otherwise, you'll end up going out of business.
So how do we get out of a depressed economy by adding six hundred thousand jobs - or more - to the government payroll?
You simply cannot spend your way out of a recession.
Stimulus spending did not work during the Great Depression, in Japan during the 90's, and it will not work now.
More government is the problem, not the solution.
When will we ever learn?

Liberals Are Upset Over Gov. Paterson's Choice
Kirsten Gillibrand is backed by the NRA and she also voted against the bailout.Just hearing that makes me like her!
No wonder the liberals are upset.
Source: hereGov. Paterson, defying the liberal wing of his Democratic Party, has chosen little-known, NRA-backed, upstate Congresswoman Kirsten Gillibrand to succeed Hillary Rodham Clinton as New York's junior senator, it was learned last night.
The surprising - and, for many Democrats shocking - decision to pick the conservative Gillibrand, 42, from Hudson in Columbia County, was disclosed by the governor in calls to party officials and some members of the state's congressional delegation, many of whom said they were unhappy with the selection, sources said.

Are We Engaged in a War on Terror?
During Thursday's press briefing, Fox News correspondent Major Garrett asked President Obama's Press Secretary, Robert Gibbs, the following question:"President Bush, after 9/11, said the United States and its government was engaged in a 'war on terror'. Is that what this administration calls it and if not, why?"
Press Secretary Robert Gibbs: "Um, uh, um..."
Having mercy on you, the reader, I'll tell you what Mr. Gibbs said.
Instead of answering the question, Gates pointed Major Garrett to what President Obama said in his inaugural address about the challenges we face.
Click the PLAY button below or click here to listen to the exchange between Garrett and Gibbs.
Why couldn't the Press Secretary answer the question? I mean, is that a tough question?

Nearly 1 Trillion in Stimulus and Not a Single New Job?
Listen to this 48 second video of Ranking Member Dave Camp (R-MI) pressing staffer, Thomas Barthold, from the Joint Committee on Taxation about job creation in the Democrats' proposed stimulus bill. Barthold could not confirm that this bill could produce one job, in either the private or public sector.

Opening Statement of Ranking Member Dave Camp
Markup of H.R. 598 – Economic Stimulus Bill
January 22, 2009
Mr. Chairman,
Families all across this nation are rightly worried about what tomorrow will bring. Our economy is in a recession; the credit markets remain seized up; and additional job losses are predicted for the near future and for some time to come if we do not act.
I firmly believe the most important elements of any economic stimulus bill fall within the jurisdiction and responsibility of this committee. To that end, I am grateful the Speaker has allowed us this markup. But as you know Mr. Chairman, a markup is no substitute for a hearing and certainly no substitute for a thoughtful policy debate.
I understand the Speaker has put enormous pressure on the varying committees of jurisdiction to bring her bill to the floor as quickly as possible. However, the President has directly challenged us “to end the petty grievances and false promises, the recriminations and worn out dogmas, that for far too long have strangled our politics.” You have echoed that call for bipartisanship on this Committee.
We stand ready to meet that challenge from President Obama, and we stand ready to work with you to protect the American taxpayer and to protect and secure the jobs of hardworking Americans. I hope this markup shows the American people that we can work across the aisle and in the best interest of the people we represent.
We have several amendments we will offer today. They are focused on three simple goals: helping families make ends meet; providing more relief to people actually paying taxes; and, laying the foundation for real, private sector job creation.
Given the events of the past few weeks—not the least of which are the release of the bill at 5 p.m. on a Friday of a holiday weekend with no input from the Minority—we are not optimistic about our Amendments being thoughtfully considered let alone accepted. To that end, we will not be offering a substitute. Instead, we will take our proposals directly to the President who has agreed to sit down with us and to hear our case.
Mr. Chairman, the American people know we cannot spend our way to prosperity. They know adding a trillion dollars to the deficit for new spending on old government programs will not create jobs. They know small businesses create jobs, not the federal government. And, they know families can better manage their budgets than the federal government.
So, as we go through this markup, those are the issues we will be raising. It is on behalf of the American taxpayer and their families, and American workers, that we will offer ideas to improve upon a bill that, to date, we have had no input on.
There are areas we can agree on; some areas we disagree; and, frankly, some areas we just don’t know enough about. Like how many jobs will be created? I have heard some estimates in the range of 3 million created or saved. But Kent Conrad, the Democrat Chairman of the Senate Budget Committee, says that number is likely to be half that.
The American people deserve to know what they are getting for their nearly $1 trillion. The manner in which this bill has come forward is unfortunately and eerily similar to how we dealt with the TARP bill; a $700 billion program that many of us realize was poorly designed and poorly executed. That is a mistake I had hope we would never repeat, let alone so soon.
With that Mr. Chairman, I look forward to learning more about this bill, the jobs you expect it to create and the savings it contains for actual taxpayers and their families. And, I look forward to answering the President’s call to rise above party lines and meet the economic challenge our nation is facing.
With that, I yield back my time.

Today Is The Big Day! The Inauguration

"This is only the beginning."
"Obama opposed the Born Alive Infants Protection Act four times"Obama enters office with an 80% approval rating.
For comparison, Jimmy Carter entered office in 1977 with a 75% approval rating.
Carter's approval rating eventually fell to 22% before he left office in 1981.
It's going to be an interesting four years, to say the least.

My First Lesson in Government Waste
One summer, when I was a college student, I bussed tables at night at an upscale restaurant. During the day, I worked on the campus of East Carolina University.
My job at ECU involved something called Project Pals, a government program. It was like a big brother organization. I was a gopher that ran errands around campus and Greenville.
One day, the lady in charge of Project Pals asked me to go with her. She said we were going to do a little shopping.
So off we went to some catalog store. She went in and with government funds, bought a large TV, a computer, and several other high dollar items.
I asked her, "Why are we buying these things? We already have them."
Her reply was, "Because we have to spend the money."
I was dumbfounded. As I loaded these purchases into the government van, I would continue to inquire, "Why are we buying this TV? Why are we getting this computer? We already have them."
"Because we need to spend the money!" she would reply, by now slightly irritated.
That was my first lesson in government waste.
I come from a family of small business owners. It would be ludicrous any of them to do to such a thing. For sure, they would not have stayed in business very long, wasting money like that.
I would later hear stories from my father, who was in the Army for four years, about waking up in the middle of the night, starting jeeps, tanks and other military vehicles, and simply letting them run until they were out of gas.
I also had a friend who was in the Navy, who would tell of throwing food and other perishable items overboard while out to sea, even though they were still fresh and edible.
Unnecessary government waste.
Why? In these various government departments, if money is returned and not spent, the following year, their budget may be reduced. Thus, the reason for waste and "because we have to spend the money" mindset.
It's easy to spend taxpayer money. It's easy to vote for pork, earmarks and bailouts.
Government mentality, easy come, easy go. Same for the members of the Congress and often, the Presidency.
Because it's someone else's money.

America Has Come A Long Way
In a few short days, a black man will move from his private residence into a much larger and more expensive one, owned not by him but by the taxpayers. A vast lawn, perimeter fence and many well-trained security specialists will insulate him from the rest of us. But the mere fact this man will live there should make us all stop and count our blessings — because it proves we live in a nation where anything is possible.
Many believed this day would never come. Most of us hoped and prayed that it would, but few of us actually believed we would live to see it. Racism is an ugly thing in all of its forms and there is little doubt that if this man had moved there 15 years ago, there would have been a great outcry — possibly even rioting in the streets. Today, we can all be both grateful and proud that no such mayhem will take place when this man takes up residency in this house.
This man, moving into this house at this time in our nation's history is much more than a simple change of addresses for him — it is proof of a change in our attitude as a nation. It is an amends of sorts — the righting of a great wrong. It is a symbol of our growth, and of our willingness to judge a man, not by the color of his skin but by the content of his character.
There can be little doubt now that the vast majority of us truly believe this man has earned both his place in history and his new address. His time in this house will not be easy — it will be fraught with danger and he will face many challenges. We're sure there will be many times when he asks himself how in the world he ended up here, and, like all who have gone before him, the experience will age him greatly.
But in every way a man can, he asked for this. His whole life for the past fifteen years appears to have been inexorably leading this man toward this house. It is highly probable that in the past, despite all of his actions, racism would have kept this man out of this house.
Today, we thank the Lord above that we are Americans and live in a nation where wrongs are righted, where justice matters and where truly anything is possible. A nation where O.J. Simpson is finally going to jail.

But It's A Historical Inauguration

Here are the stories criticizing Obama for the spending for his presidential inauguration:
Zero.
Instead, we get this:
But hey, it's a historical inauguration.
"President Bush's second inauguration will cost tens of millions of dollars - $40 million alone in private donations. With that kind of money, what could you buy? Two hundred armored Humvees for troops in Iraq; vaccinations and preventive health care for 22 million children in regions devastated by the tsunami; a down payment on the nation's deficit, which hit a record-breaking $412 billion last year. Do we need to spend this money on what seems so extravagant?" - Associated Press, January 13th, 2005, story by reporter Will LesterFast forward to January 15th, 2009. The President-elect will take less than a minute to recite the oath of office in front of an estimated two million people in the U.S. capital next week. He'll also give a speech that will last approximately fifteen minutes. By the time the final dance has been held at one of the many inaugural balls, the costs for the day will be a staggering $150 million dollars.

'Just because the economy is in a downturn, it doesn't mean that style is going to be in a downturn,' agreed Ken Downing, fashion director for Neiman Marcus."Not one story about how many people in Darfur could be fed with this $150 million. Or how many Africans could be vaccinated against AIDS. Or all the children without health care. Or all of the middle-class people without jobs. Or how many people could be helped during the recession with Obama's $150 million dollar inauguration budget.

Welcome President Obama
While not yet President of the United States, Obama is already being treated like one as protesters in Iran burn posters of the president-elect during a demonstration. Other protesters drove cars over pictures of Obama in support of the people of Gaza.
Iran, Syria, Hezbollah, Hamas, Al Qaeda, Muslim Brotherhood and others know Obama has good will throughout the world right now. Biden was probably right that Obama will be tested.
Bush provided low hanging fruit for radicals and terrorist groups to recruit, because his attitude was if you attack us, I'm going to come kick your ass.
The world will give Obama a window to show what kind of leader he's going to be. Radicals and terrorists may use this time period to attack a U.S. interest abroad or possibly American soil, in hopes of getting Obama to react with force. If he does, Obama will be portrayed as another imperialist U.S. President, and terrorists will use the event to recruit the next generation of jihadists for a trip to paradise and seventy-two virgins.
The honeymoon for Obama is almost over, if not already.

The Final Press Conference of President Bush
Click here to read the full transcript.
I for one, am thankful for President Bush's service to the country. He's a class act and in my opinion, he's just 'good people'.
In his farewell press conference, Bush wished President-elect Obama 'all the best' three separate times. And despite what some may think, he really meant it.
Bush also said he hoped people will treat Obama with respect. That certainly was lacking in Bush's presidency.
I am also thankful for everything President Bush has done to keep America safe. I was and am a strong supporter of Bush's war against terrorism. I am extremely proud of how he lead the country after September the 11th.
President Bush always tried to do the right thing, not necessarily the popular thing but what he felt was the right thing.
May history judge you well, Mr. President. God bless you, Sir.

Can The Government Save Us? Do We Want It To?

I just opened up the Sunday paper, and on the front page is a headline, "Obama Advisors: Economic Plan Would Create Up To 4.1 Million Jobs".
All of the previous headlines I've seen said three million jobs. But hey, Obama is Superman, right?
So how does someone who has never owned a business or had a real job in the private sector, all of a sudden be able to create millions of jobs? Are community activists that smart?I know, I know, he has a team of economic advisers. And they've all come up with this dandy of a plan to influx billions of taxpayer dollars into the economy. The Pelosi/Reid Congress (and Bush to some extent) have already been doing this, yet we're still in a recession.
So we're to believe those who essentially created this mess are now going to fix it?
Before Presidents Herbert Hoover and Franklin D. Roosevelt came along, no one expected the federal government to get involved when the stock market crashed or when there was a downturn in the economy.
But millions of Americans are now programmed to look to Washington D.C. for all the answers. And that ain't good.
Edward Murrow once said, "A nation of sheep will beget a government of wolves."
Are we there already?

Chicago: More Dangerous Than Iraq?
Iraq & Afghanistan 2008: 465 Deaths - Chicago: 509
Chicago, where Barack Hussein Obama rose to fame, is more dangerous than a war zone. The community service model seems to have failed in Obama's home base.
- 314 U.S. soldiers died in Iraq in 2008, down from 904 in the previous year
- Chicago finished 2008 with 509 homicides, a 15 percent increase from 2007
- Chicago's median number of homicides over the years average about 700 per year
- The combined total of 465 U.S. deaths in both Iraq and Afghanistan for 2008 is lower than the 509 homicides in Chicago for same period
Where was Obama during this surge? Campaigning for the Presidency on the merits of his community involvement in Chicago.

Israeli Tanks Enter Gaza

Unlike Joe Biden, I do not profess to be a foreign policy expert. I do not particularly keep up with all that is going on in Israel. In regards to their ongoing conflict with countries in the Middle East, I do know the basics.
However, I have a tendency to believe all of this movement is going on because they want to get it done before Obama enters office on January 20th. Israel most likely feels they will not get much backing from the Obama administration, and needs to take care of business now, while they still have American support.
Diplomacy and singing, "Kumbaya" doesn't go very far with Muslims who will chop your head off at the drop of a hat (pun intended). Their culture seems to only respect the use of force.
Any further insight is welcomed.
